NWA Executive Director George Szczepanski recently participated in a virtual meeting of the research group CucCAP to discuss research priorities for the watermelon industry, alongside Mark Arney of the National Watermelon Promotion Board and CucCAP's researchers. During the meeting, the CucCAP teams shared updates on their progress in developing genomic tools and breeding cucurbit crops resistant to diseases. They also conducted field trials to test the disease resistance of cucurbit crops and are working on applications of their research.
